“I have given them the glory that you gave me,
that they may be one as we are one:
I in them and you in me.”
For us to step from our lives into Christ and His Life is one part of the new relationship. The other is as He steps into our lives with His Life.
• “I in them and you in me”
• “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20)
• “On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” (John 14:20)
It is no wonder that Jesus refers to our salvation as a new birth. Through His death and resurrection we have been forgiven and cleansed of our sins. Now we are able to enter not only into the presence of God but to become united with Him in a relationship that has no end or separation. It is a unity of which we could not dream. It is indeed a new life in and with the Source of all Life – Jesus Himself.
Although achieved for us in all its fullness and completion we experience it in stages. If we think of our lives as having many areas or compartments it becomes like a house with many rooms. Jesus enters in with the purpose of moving into every room or area of our lives and there to fill them with His Light, Life and Love. He will transform and renew them and, in the process, build a new and wonderful spiritual house and home for us both. It takes time but the journey is worth it!
Every day invite Him (further) into your life. Trust Him with it.
Lord Jesus I am in You and You are in me. Fill me Lord with Your Light, Life and Love. Cleanse me, heal me and be the very centre of me. Amen.
