For God

“Well done, my good servant!’ his master replied.
“Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter,
take charge of ten cities.”

(Luke 19:17)

Everything matters in our relationship with God. Nothing is insignificant in His sight. Every moment is a gift from Him. Every situation is important and alive with potential. All our thoughts, words and deeds have an impact, and stand before Him.

God’s commands, His instructions to His people, are meant to be heard, received, understood and implemented. His great gift of His Son is to be embraced, cherished and honoured. His ever-present blessing of the Holy Spirit is to be received, respected and relied upon.

Our God is Almighty and Holy. We, His sons and daughters, are

“a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God (to) declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9)

If one word was to characterise us, individually and together, that word should be love – the one word that best describes God. It is also the word that is the foundation of His commands to us. If we are to be good and faithful and trustworthy in His sight then we will increasingly seek to reflect Him in every single area of our lives. So then,

“Whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17)

“Let every detail in your lives–words, actions, whatever–be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.” (Colossians 3:17 – Message)

Wow God, that’s a challenge! Please help me to give it my best shot for You – and when and where I fail to get up and try again. You’re worth it Lord. Amen.
