“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, `Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Some mountains need to be demolished or removed.
The mountains of sin, bad habits and false ideals – apart from any other effect that they might have – stand in the way of our growth, development and progress. They prevent us becoming who and what we could be, particularly in terms of our relationship with the Lord, with ourselves and with others. The new freedom, life and peace with God that comes as they disappear is worth all the effort.
Sometimes it may take many attempts before particular mountains are removed. Repeated failures can be very depressing. But God is with us. We need to keep praying for His help and turning to Him immediately if and when we fall. As a father teaching his child to walk is more concerned with encouraging the child up again after each tumble so God reaches out to us. “Get up,” He says each time, “and have another go at life, with Me!”
Identify a mountain. Give it to the Lord. Never give up.
Father I give you my mountain. Please destroy its influence and hold in my life and replace it with something lovely and good. Amen.
