“Let us run with perseverance
the race marked out for us”
Every Christian has a journey marked out for them by God. It is our journey and only we can travel that road and reach the end. Like a race it is very personal. It has to be confronted, endured and overcome by each individual themselves. No one can do it for us – we have to run and finish it in person.
The hills along the way may become very lonely and testing periods, when everything within us cries out ‘enough!’ There may be alternating periods of companionship and loneliness, stress and encouragement, success and failure. There will be times when our journey is either the greatest joy and privilege in the world, or one where we would happily crawl away and hide in pain, shame or surrender. However our journey is going somewhere, it has a destination that we will want to reach.
This is our journey – the journey of our life. We are called to recognise it, embrace it and own it. It is here that we meet with the Lord, discover His love and presence, and realise that He is on the road with us – leading us as well as supporting and encouraging us. And whatever He may do for us along the way, which He will, the most important aspect of it all is the development of our relationship with Him.
Keep going – Keep praying – Keep trusting
Lord Jesus, this is my life, and my journey with You. Help me please to live it with You, trust You for all that I need, and find in You my strength and my joy. Amen.
