Real Me

“to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
and to put on the new self, created to be like God
in true righteousness and holiness”
(Ephesians 4:23-24)

Reflection:
David stepped into his anointing. Although he did not understand some of his difficulties and challenges he nevertheless stayed with it. He trusted God. Because of his perseverance God was able to fulfil His plan and purpose for David and his life, as well as what He intended to do through him.

Jesus stepped into His anointing at the Jordan and went with it, seeking only to say and to do what God showed Him. Because of His unfailing commitment God was able to bring about the salvation of humankind.

God asks us to step into our anointing – and in doing so to trust him and to go with it. He has a plan and a purpose for our individual lives. We express our faith by allowing Him to work His purpose out in and through us, starting as we are and where we are. Who we are right now is the person that He has found, called and wishes to build and use. When Jesus called His first disciples he said,

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you ….” (Matthew 4:19)

He will make us – build, gift, empower and transform us – into the special person He has in mind for us and His purpose. He is not asking us to create our own vision of what we should be like and strive towards it but to relax and surrender ourselves into His vision.

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)

Response:
Accept yourself as you are, and offer this real self to the Lord. It is your greatest gift and just what He wants.

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, just as I am I come to You. I place myself in Your heart and hands. Love me Lord, into the person You created me to be. Amen.
