God is here

2016-09-13

“Let this be known to all the world.
Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion,
for great is the Holy One of Israel among you.”
(Isaiah 12:5-6)

Reflection:
The introduction to my prayers this morning had it this way.

“All the earth,
shout and sing for joy,
for great in your midst
is the Holy One.”

God is not somewhere ‘there’. He is here. He has not left but is still here. He may seem to be silent and allowing people to go their own way instead of seeking and following Him – but He is still here. Indeed Jesus great promise to His followers was,

“I am with you always.”
(Matthew 28:20)

We need to remind ourselves and others of this great truth. God is here with us and amongst us. He is with each individual Christian and with each Christian group.

“For where two or three come together in my name,
there am I with them.”
(Matthew 18:20)

Not only is He with us, but in some great and invisible ways He is working out His plan and purpose to His full and complete satisfaction.

“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will”
(Ephesians 1:11)

The fact that we may not understand all that He is doing is not important. What is important is that we believe in Him, trust in Him and stay as close to Him as we can in prayer and the way that we live. The great acclamation of the Church in worship is both a statement of faith as well as an acknowledgement of the truth.

The Lord is here.
His Spirit is with us.

We do well to keep it in our mind and on our lips through the days and nights.

Response:
‘Practice the presence of God’ all the time.

Prayer:

Lord God I do believe that You are here with me at all times. Please help me to live as one who is always in Your presence too. Amen.
